A message from President and CEO, Bill Parent

June 5, 2020

Multiple tragedies have impacted the Black community, including the recent killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. I am deeply saddened and angered by these senseless deaths, which reflect the ingrained racial prejudice and injustice that still exists in our country. These acts are a stark reminder of the intolerance that many of our colleagues, customers and community members face every day.

Most citizens from around the country, and our own cities, are responding to these acts through peaceful protests to express their anger and frustration. Protests are at the heart of our democracy and provide a chance for voices to be heard. We listen to the pain with open minds and hearts. Protests are only the first step to creating positive change in our communities; they are a call to people of good conscience to engage and respect one another to cultivate a society of understanding and unity. In some instances, small groups of people out of the thousands of peaceful protestors have chosen acts of violence against police and property. While we understand their anger, we believe these actions undermine the core message of people from all backgrounds begging for our country to be a beacon of hope for all who call America home.

We are all made better for the rich tapestry of diversity that exists within our communities. We take pride in having a workplace that welcomes and includes those of all backgrounds. Our corporate values are centered on the notion of creating a place where every customer and colleague is respected, appreciated and able to be themselves.

Envision Bank stands with our colleagues and communities during this time, and we support the right for freedom of expression and peaceful protest. Through our individual actions, our society can become a more accepting one where all people, regardless of their differences, know they belong, they are safe and they can dream of a bright future.
