The Equifax Breach: What You Need to Know

September 15, 2017

At Randolph Savings Bank, we take the financial safety of our customers very seriously. It is because of that commitment to your security, we wanted to make you aware of the recent Equifax data breach.

Last week, Equifax, one of the nation's three major credit reporting agencies, reported they had experienced a significant data breach where the names, addresses, and Social Security Numbers of up to 143 million people were compromised.

Equifax has created a website in which people can see whether they might have been impacted by this breach and to sign up for a free year of credit monitoring services. Please review the program specifications and disclosures thoroughly to ensure you understand the terms and conditions of the services offered:

To learn more about the breach, visit Equifax's website or call the Equifax dedicated Customer Call Center at 866-447-7559.

Additional Safety Measures:
  • You are entitled to one free credit report each year from each of the credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). Visit and request a credit report now then review it thoroughly. Set an alarm or calendar notification/reminder reminding you to request a report every four months.
  • Closely monitor your bank and credit card statements. Paying close attention to your accounts is one of the best ways to be aware if anything is amiss. If you suspect your credit cards have been compromised, contact your credit provider or bank, and request a new number and new cards.
  • Be cautious of scammers. No bank will ever call you and ask you for your credit card number or Social Security Number, so be wary of any telephone solicitation advising you that you've been a part of the breach and offering to sell you credit monitoring services. When in doubt, hang up the phone.

Randolph Savings Bank values your business and remains dedicated to your safety. If you have any questions, or if we can be of assistance, please contact us by email at or by calling 877-963-2100.
